About the Beacons
Duo Dance
Welcome to the Beacons Wheelchair Dancers website. We are a registered charity providing wheelchair dancing in Torbay Devon.
The Beacons were formed in 1986, and membership currently stands at 40. We believe that anyone can dance, regardless of any disability that he or she may have. If you need a little help to push your wheelchair then we believe you should have that help. If you want to dance with your zimmer frame, then come along and dance with it. In fact, anyone is welcome. We have no age restriction or any restrictions of any kind.
We are a fun group, and the emphasis on dance night is enjoyment. We do all forms and styles of dance from Ballroom and Latin American through to Formation and Sequence, from Line Dance to Limbo (if you want!). We are often found demonstrating our dancing to groups both indoors and outside in the lovely sea air.
We encourage able bodied people to join us and join in. This is called Combi dancing and is very popular both here and internationally, with competitions regularly held. Interested! Then come along to one of our practise nights, held on Wednesdays at the Hollacombe Resource Centre, Torquay Road, Preston, Paignton from 7pm - 9.15pm to see for yourself the fun we have. Bring a friend, the more the merrier. So, see you there. For directions See Map.
